Unwrapping Tradition
The Timeless Heritage of Mexican Corn Husks
Corn husks, or hojas para tamales, have been an integral part of Mexican culinary traditions for centuries. Derived from the abundant maize crops that blanket the country's landscape, these natural wrappers are steeped in history, dating back to the ancient Mesoamerican civilizations. Revered for their versatile use in dishes like tamales, where they impart a subtle, earthy flavor and unique texture to the steamed bundles, corn husks represent a culinary legacy. By introducing dried corn husks, we preserve this tradition, offering a convenient, year-round solution that maintains the authenticity and essential qualities of freshly harvested husks, ready to envelop and enhance the flavors of your favorite recipes.
Sizes and Quantities
Understanding the structure and sizing of our product is essential to appreciating its quality and versatility. The term “hoja” refers to an individual corn husk, while “corazon” encompasses a bundle of 120 hojas. Our packaging is designed with efficiency in mind: one case contains 80 corazones, which sums up to 9,600 individual corn husks. A full pallet is composed of 13 cases, aggregating a substantial 115,200 corn husks, ready for culinary use.
Originating from the lush fields of Oaxaca and Jalisco, two of Mexico’s most celebrated regions for maize cultivation, our corn husks bring authentic Mexican heritage right to your kitchen. We offer two distinct sizes to cater to different culinary needs: the Large Corazones, measuring between 6 and 8 inches, are perfect for traditional tamale recipes requiring more wrap space, while the Mini Corazones, at 4 to 5 inches, are ideal for smaller, snack-sized delights. This versatility ensures that whether you are crafting a meal for a family dinner or a large celebration, our corn husks provide the perfect foundation.
Artisanal Quality: The Craft and Care Behind Our Corn Husks
Our dried corn husks are crafted through a deeply artisanal process that begins in the verdant fields of Mexico. Each husk is not only harvested by hand but also meticulously cut to precise dimensions right in the field using rustic machinery that emphasizes traditional methods. To ensure the highest quality and longevity, the husks undergo a crucial sulfite treatment, which protects them against mold and excess moisture, maintaining their pristine condition.
What sets our product apart in the competitive market is not just the affordability but also the superior quality and specially tailored format, making them ideal for retail or wholesale tamales. Each batch of our corn husks undergoes two rigorous quality assurance processes. The first is a highly detailed manual inspection where each corazon is examined individually, ensuring that only the finest husks reach our customers. This dedication to quality ensures that our corn husks stand among the best available, offering unparalleled value and excellence.
